Hi my name is Alexis, I am the co founder of RiseUpFA inc.. I was diagnosed with the rare disease Friedreichs Ataxia in 2019. Friedreichs Ataxia by textbook is a rare, inherited, autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects the nervous system, causing progressive damage to the spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and cerebellum, leading to impaired muscle coordination. To put it simply, I have 0 balance and bad coordination. FA affects 1 in 50,000 people in America. With awareness and advocacy we can continue getting new treatments and hopefully one day in cure. RiseUpFA will collect donations through different events. This money will go towards providing new walkers, wheelchairs, etc. To help the community get around and live their best most comfortable life!
