Our Mission
Hi my name is Alexis and this is my dad Mark! We started this foundation to help others like myself. I was diagnosed with the rare disease, Friedreichs Ataxia, in 2019. Friedreichs Ataxia by textbook is a rare, inherited, autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects the nervous system, causing progressive damage to the spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and cerebellum, leading to impaired muscle coordination. To put it simply, I have 0 balance and bad coordination. FA affects 1 in 50,000 people in America. With awareness and advocacy we can continue getting new treatments and hopefully one day a cure. RiseUpFA will collect donations through different events. This money will go towards providing new walkers, wheelchairs, etc. To help the community get around and live their best most comfortable life!
